My Grandmother used to get her hair permed and Yes she was of the 'Blue Rinse Set!
Between perms she would wear these metal curlers that must have been most uncomfortable and used to cause hair breakage, however she suffered for the glamour of the 1940s war years.
This set of 4 'PERFECT WAVE SETTER' curling pins were quite a common sight in my grandmothers home. They are in good condition. Two are made of metal and two of stainless steel.
I've included the magazine Advertisement I used as a prop for the curlers. The ad is strangely for headache tablets and states why 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' It was possibly a reference to the 1953 film of the same name and hilariously 'The greatest lover in Town' tells us that blonde hair is preferable as it doesn't show the Dust! You heard it here first!
Curlers measure 7 cm long and approximately. 2 cm high.
