A very rare 70 yr old Apothecary POISON Medicine bottle with an original apothecary label.
Much sought after amber glass with no chips or cracks.
The label is in good condition and reads in Portuguese/Spanish Latin 'Tintura De Helecho Macho' translated into English is 'Male Fren Tincture'. The male maiden hair fern was believed to treat nose bleeds menstrual bleeding wounds and tumours. I hope it was used topically.
(It is thankfully empty and I'm not sure this cured anyone as it is not advisable as the male fern is a very poisonous plant, taken orally it can cause dearth.)
The bakelite stopper is in excellent condition making this a very collectable piece of medical history.
Measuring a tiny 10 cm tall with a 3 cm base and a circumference of 12 cm it is a rare collectable treasure.
