Shorter and sons Staffordshire English china brought out its popular 'Water Lilly' pattern in 1939.
I've seen a few pieces of this tableware, but this is aVERY RARE part of the dinner set. It's a purpose fully designed piece made as a 'Mint Sauce Jug' with the traditional Sunday Lamb Roast in mind.
It is hand-painted with beige at the base, feathering up into a dark pink around its Water Lily fluted edge. The handle is painted in brown.
This delightful little treasure measures 12.5 cm long and 6.5 cm high.
It's tinier than a milk jug, but perfect size for its specifically designed use.
Highly collectable, in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks with small amount of crazing consistent with age.
